Domain name search
Type a name. Each of 600+ extensions is checked live and listed cheapest first, with Porkbun's and GoDaddy's price for the first year and for renewal.

How it works
Every extension in the tables gets a row, ordered by the cheaper of Porkbun's and GoDaddy's first-year price. The rows are checked a few at a time, the first sixty straight away and sixty more on request, so a long list costs nothing until it is wanted.
A name is taken when Cloudflare's resolver finds nameservers for it or the registry's RDAP server has a record of it, and available when the registry says it has none. Likely free means no nameservers and a registry that publishes no RDAP server; ask the registrar means the registry did not answer in time. The registrar's own search, one tap away, settles both.
A domain typed with its extension, such as my-shop.co.uk, puts that extension at the top and checks the rest of the name across every other.
Questions
How does the search know whether a domain is taken?
Two questions are asked about every name. Cloudflare's DNS resolver is asked for the name's nameservers: a name with nameservers is registered. If it has none, the registry's own RDAP server, the successor to WHOIS, is asked for the registration record: a record means taken, none means available. Where a registry publishes no RDAP server the name is listed as likely free, and the registrar's page gives the final answer.
Where do the prices come from?
Porkbun publishes its whole price list through its API, and GoDaddy's standard price for each extension is read from its availability API. Both tables are refreshed by hand, and the page says when. They are the standard first-year and renewal prices in US dollars: a registrar may ask more for a premium name and less during a sale, and a price in another currency comes from the registrar.
Why is the renewal price shown next to the first-year price?
Because the first year is often the bait. An extension sold for a dollar can renew at thirty, and the renewal price is what the domain costs every year after the first, so the list can be sorted by it too.
Which registrars are compared?
Porkbun and GoDaddy, each with the extensions it sells. A link opens the registrar's own search for the name typed here, where the name is checked once more before it is bought.
Is what I type stored?
The name is sent to Cloudflare's resolver and to the registries' RDAP servers to be checked, as any domain search does, and through this site's own small proxy where a registry refuses browsers. The page keeps no history and runs no analytics.
